MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — A 70-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Granger Township, which happened around 4:07 p.m. on Route 18 at Route 94.
Authorities say John E. Horne, of Hinckley, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet eastbound on Route 18 when he “failed to yield while turning left onto state Route 94,” according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. His vehicle was then struck by a westbound 2018 Jeep, which caused “disabling damage” to both vehicles.
Horne was taken to Akron General Hospital where he later died. Authorities say he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Jeep’s driver, a 19-year-old man from Medina, was taken to a Medina hospital with minor injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
The Medina County Sheriff’s Department, Granger Township Fire and EMS and Sharon Township EMS all assisted at the scene.
No additional details were immediately available.
