Heavy rains cause severe flooding across Northeast Ohio

As storm systems continue to move across Northeast Ohio, several areas are being impacted by severe flooding.

As storm systems continue to move across Northeast Ohio, several areas are being impacted by severe flooding.

Wayne County Flood Warning:

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for Wayne County as water continued to rise near The Killbuck Creek Near Killbuck. Officials believed the river's water lever would reach beyond 16 feet by Tuesday Morning. 

Lakewood Dog Rescue: 

A dog was rescued by Lakewood Fire Sunday morning. 

Heavy rains from the weekend's storm systems left the dog stranded behind the 17800 block of Lake Avenue.  

A nearby resident threw food to the dog until officials could safely rescue the pup. Using an inflatable raft, officials were able to quickly get the dog to safety.

'Dramatic water rescue' in Cleveland: 1 trapped in basement pulled to safety

Officials with the fire department say one person was pulled to safety after becoming trapped in a basement apartment amid flooding conditions in the 2000 block of Stearns Road.

An officer and sergeant were both treated with exposure to cold after entering water to assist.

The situation has left 10 people displaced from their apartments.

Flooding at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail closed: 

Officials with the Cuyahoga Valley National Park have ordered the closure of the entire Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath due to flooding. 

 All trails from Botzum Trailhead in Cuyahoga Falls to Lock 39 Trailhead in Valley View are closed.  Rangers and maintenance crews are working to access the damage. 

Visitors are advised to stay off the trails until further notice. 

High floodwaters close Jennings Road in Cleveland for hours:

Rising floodwaters, at least three to four feet, shut down Jennings Road between Old Denison and Harvard Avenue for several hours Sunday morning.

Around 4 a.m., an SUV carrying six people became stranded in the high water, according to Cleveland police officers on scene. Both adults and children were rescued, and no one was hurt.

Flash Flooding in Chargin Falls:

The Chargrin Falls Police Department posted video of flash flooding in the area. The department is asking for patience as officials and crews work to resolve the flooding.  

State Route 306 Closure: 

Severe flooding has closed State Route 306 between Kirtland and Markell Roads. The roads will remain closed indefinitely as officials work to clear the roadway. Following the road clearing, the bridge will be evaluated for " structural integrity," Kirtland Police said in a Facebook post

Flash Flooding in Parma: 

The National Weather Service in Cleveland has been tracking the storm systems as they've moved across the region. Saturday evening, the organization posted images and videos of flash flooding in Parma and surrounding areas. 

The Red Cross has not yet provided any assistance to those being impacted by flooding.
