PORTAGE COUNTY, Ohio — Thousands in Northeast Ohio were without power as severe storms made their way through the area on Monday afternoon.
According to FirstEnergy, most of the outages have been cleared. But there are still some in certain areas who remain without electricity. Here's an update from 6:20 a.m. Tuesday:
- Portage: 532 outages (down from 2,993)
Several residents of Portage and surrounding counties have reported damage due high winds during the afternoon storms. The severe weather came amid an ongoing heat advisory that covers all of Northeast Ohio for most of the week.
The NWS says "prolonged dangerously hot conditions with heat index values in excess of 100" degrees are possible.
