AKRON, Ohio — An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the 2020 fatal shooting of an 8-year-old girl in Akron.
According to Akron police, Jaevone Suggs was arrested on Friday in connection with the deadly shooting of MiKayla Pickett, who was killed when a hail of gunfire erupted outside a residence in the 700 block of Roselle Avenue on Aug. 14, 2020. A then-14-year-old girl was also injured in the incident.
An arrest warrant was issued in April for Suggs after an investigation revealed information linking him to the murder. He was arrested on Friday morning without incident after being tracked to a residence in the 1300 block of Nester Avenue.
Suggs was later booked into the Summit County Juvenile Detention Facility. He has been charged with the following:
- Aggravated murder
- Murder
- Discharging firearms
- Felonious assault
Robert Scott, 22, and Donte Farmer, 37, were previously arrested and charged in connection with Pickett's killing. Scott was arrested in Michigan in April and charged with aggravated murder and felonious assault. Farmer, who is currently incarcerated on unrelated charges, is also facing aggravated murder and felonious assault charges in connection to this incident.
