AKRON, Ohio — A 21-year-old and an 18-year-old were injured in a shooting that took place in Akron over the weekend.
Officers responded to a residence in the 300 block of Cleveland Street for a shooting at 8:35 p.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, officers found the two men with apparent gunshot wounds. The 18-year-old had been shot in the chest, while the 21-year-old had been shot in the leg. Both were transported to area hospitals, with the 18-year-old victim listed in serious condition.
Officers collected evidence including shell casings and a handgun. A nearby home was also struck in what was believed to be an exchange of gunfire, although no injuries were reported.
Based on a preliminary investigation, it is believed that unknown suspects fired shots at the house, striking the victims.
