A store owner in Akron and a suspect exchanged gun fire during a robbery on Friday.

AKRON, Ohio — A store owner and suspect exchanged gunfire during a robbery that occurred in Akron on Friday afternoon.

According to Akron police, officers responded to the 900 block of Delia Ave. at approximately 12:30 p.m. on Friday for what was reported as a robbery with shots being fired. The store owner told police that the suspect jumped the counter, fired a round from a firearm and held him at gunpoint. The suspect proceeded to grab an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot.

The store owner chased after the suspect, firing his own firearm at him. Nobody was ultimately struck by gunfire during the incident.

The suspect is described as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and gray mask.
