CLEVELAND — George Zatik Jr., the 65-year-old man accused of shooting his 10-year-old grandson in Cleveland last month, who was indicted by a Cuyahoga County grand jury, has appeared in court.
According to court records, Zatik has been charged with one count of endangering children. The charge contains two firearms specifications that could add a total of four years to his sentence. He has also been charged with a misdemeanor count of assault.
Zatik appeared in court on Wednesday, March 20, for an arraignment hearing. During the hearing, Zatik pleaded not guilty and a bond of $10,000 was set. Additionally, he is to have no contact with the victims.
Authorities say the child was shot in the 5100 block of Gifford Avenue on Feb. 19 and was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to EMS. 3News obtained an affidavit identifying the suspect as Zatik. He was also listed as the child's grandfather on the affidavit.
Cleveland Municipal Court records indicated Zatik had initially been charged with felonious assault. Bond was set at $10,000 and Zatik was ordered to have no contact with the victim.
