AKRON, Ohio — Faith Boltz, a 45-year-old woman from Cuyahoga Falls, has been sentenced to serve 18 months in prison connected to a 2021 child endangering case. The judge gave Boltz until noon Friday to turn herself over to the Summit County Jail.
Wednesday morning’s court hearing came after Boltz previously pleaded guilty to a third-degree felony in the case.
The situation dates back to June of 2021 as Cuyahoga Falls police investigated an incident that happened while Boltz was babysitting an infant. She was charged after police received a call from a person with video of Boltz using an open hand to cover the infant’s nose and mouth area in attempts to silence the crying baby.
Before sentencing was handed down, Boltz offered the following statement as an apology to the family: “I have never owed an apology to anyone like the apology I owe to you. … I was entrusted with your daughter, one of your most precious gifts, and I betrayed your trust. My actions that day were inexcusable and I will forever carry the weight of my actions with me. I’m sorry, so sorry, for the pain and anger I’ve brought to you and your family. I’m sorry for the sleepless nights I’ve caused and your feelings toward me are valid. While my words may not resonate with you, they are all I have to offer. I am truly sorry.”
