CANTON, Ohio — The Canton Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating the driver of a dark-colored vehicle seen in the photo above that struck a pedestrian Tuesday night.
Police say the incident happened around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Tuscarawas Street West at Harrison Avenue. The man, identifed as 64-year-old Jeffrey L. Jackson of Canton, was crossing the street when he was struck. Authorities say the Jackson suffered life-threatening injuries as a result and remains in serious condition at an area hospital.
Police say the driver did not stop. The vehicle headed westbound on Tuscarawas Street after the collision.
The Canton Police Department Traffic Bureau is investigating. The driver has been identified and has been interviewed by investigators. Charges are pending a review by the prosecutor's office. The suspect vehicle has also been located.
