AKRON, Ohio — A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged after the body of a 13-year-old girl was found behind an alley in Akron in June.
According to Akron Police, an investigation identified 30-year-old Keith Early as a person of interest in the case. After an arrest warrant was issued for Early, information traced him to Mansfield, where he was taken into custody this past Tuesday.
Early was transported back to Akron, where he met with detectives and was ultimately charged with Abuse of a Corpse, Failure to report a crime, and Obstruction of Official Business. He was booked into the Summit County Jail.
Early's arrest comes nearly two months after a resident called 911 and reported finding human remains in an alleyway behind a home on the 400 block of South Arlington Street. There were no apparent signs of trauma to the 13-year-old girl who was found dead.
An investigation remains ongoing, with detectives working to determine the exact circumstances that led to the teen's death, as well as any additional person or persons that may be somehow involved.
