CLEVELAND — Cleveland Police are investigating a shooting that took the life of one man and injured several others in the early morning hours on Friday.
Officers were called to the 11900 block of Miles Avenue around 1:30 a.m. for a report of a person lying down in the street. The 34-year-old victim was found to have multiple gunshot wounds and was then taken to University Hospitals, where he was pronounced dead.
Witnesses told police that multiple shots were heard fired in the area of Poochies Deli and several people were struck by gunfire. Each were taken to local hospitals by private transportation.
- A 21-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the foot. He was treated and released at University Hospitals.
- A 31-year-old woman was grazed by a shot to her neck. She was treated and released at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.
- A 23-year-old man suffered a wound to the thigh. He was treated and released at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.
In addition, a 31-year-old woman was in her car with her two young children when the shots rang out. Her vehicle was hit by gunfire, but neither she nor the children were injured.
Members of the Homicide Unit along with the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene for investigation. No arrests have been made. The case remains under investigation.
