ROCKY RIVER, Ohio — The Rocky River Police Department reports that investigators found a stolen classic car and parts from another while executing a series of warrants in Cleveland last week.
According to Rocky River Police Chief George Lichman, three residential search warrants were executed at a home on West 31st Street in Cleveland on Dec. 14. The warrants were related to the thefts of a 1966 Chevrolet Impala and a 1970 Pontiac GTO from a secured parking garage in Rocky River last month.
Lichman says during the execution of the search warrants, the Impala was found covered and hidden in the backyard of one of the homes. A fully-functional "chop shop" was also found at the residence. Police discovered several parts of the GTO, including the motor, doors, fenders, seats, and rear axle.
Other vehicles and vehicle parts were found at the site during the warrant execution. Lichman added that while charges are forthcoming for those identified as being involved in the thefts, the investigation is ongoing. Meanwhile, the 1966 Impala has been returned to its owner.
The Rocky River Police Department's Detective Bureau led the investigation, with assistance from the Westshore Enforcement Bureau, the Cleveland Division of Police, and other regional partners.
