SHAKER HEIGHTS, Ohio — A Shaker Heights police officer was hospitalized after a suspect in a reported stolen vehicle from Cleveland struck a patrol car on Tuesday morning.
According to Shaker Heights Police Commander John Cole, officers received an alert at approximately 11 a.m. that a Chevrolet vehicle that had been reported stolen from the city of Cleveland was spotted in the area of Lee Road and Shaker Boulevard.
The alert about the stolen vehicle came via a FLOCK camera that captured the car's license plate information.
Cole says police attempted to set up a perimeter to stop the suspected stolen Chevrolet, but it struck a cruiser and injured a five-year veteran of the Shaker Heights Police Department. The officer was taken to an area hospital for "minor injuries and observation," according to Cole.
