AKRON, Ohio — For the second time in a week, the U.S. Marshals' Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) has arrested a suspect wanted for the murder of an Akron man last month.
On Friday, the NOVFTF announced that it arrested 19-year-old Julian Sistrunk in Canton. He was wanted by the Akron Police Department for aggravated murder in the shooting death of Trieg Schwab on October 2.
Police say at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Oct. 2, Akron officers responded to the 1100 block of Chandler Avenue after a shooting took place. When officers arrived, they found Schwab with apparent gunshot wounds in the backyard of the property. Schwab was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Summit County Medical Examiner later reported Schwab died from gunshot wounds to the torso.
On Oct. 27, the NOVFTF arrested 18-year-old Robert Greenlee in the 400 block of Hardman Drive in Cuyahoga Falls. Greenlee was charged with murder and booked into the Summit County Jail.
Sistrunk was later identified as a suspect and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Marshals found him near the 800 block of Highland Road in Canton on Friday morning.
“The US Marshals Service has a strong partnership with the Akron Police Department," U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said in a statement after Sistrunk's arrest. "Together we are making the city of Akron a safer place by taking violent fugitives such as these homicide suspects off the streets, and we will continue to work together to make these arrests in the future.”
