Akron Police: Body of woman found in wooded area; homicide investigation now underway

No suspects have been identified or arrested at this time. Police say the investigation "is in its early stages."

AKRON, Ohio — Detectives from the Akron Police Department are investigating the homicide of a woman found in a wooded area on Tuesday.  

According to reports, officers responded to the 200 block of Annadale Ave. around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a call about a woman's body found in the woods. 

When police arrived on scene, they found the victim dead.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy. The victim's name is being withheld pending positive identification and family notifications.

No suspects have been identified or arrested at this time. Police say the investigation "is in its early stages."
