A 48-year-old man is dead after authorities say he was found in Akron early Tuesday morning with severe thermal burns. He was found when authorities responded to a fire in a vacant lot on Frederick Avenue around 1:05 a.m.
Upon their arrival, emergency personnel located the victim “lying on the ground smoldering and with severe thermal burns.” He was later pronounced dead at 1:18 a.m.
The man’s name has not been released at this time. The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office and the Akron Police Department are investigating the incident, which has been labeled as a suspected homicide.
