CLEVELAND — A 46-year-old old man was killed in a one-car crash that took place on I-71 North in Cleveland on Tuesday morning.
According to Cleveland Police, the accident occurred just before 10 a.m. on I-71 northbound near W. 130th St with the vehicle traveling in excess of the 60 MPH speed limit. For reasons that currently remain unknown, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and collided with the end terminal of the guard rail.
The guard rail then intruded through the engine firewall and into the cabin before exiting through the back window. In total, approximately 200 feet of guardrail went through the vehicle.
The driver was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center by Cleveland EMS and pronounced deceased less than an hour after the crash.
