CLEVELAND — One person has died following a crash Monday morning in Cleveland on West 117th Street and Bellaire Road.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol tells 3News the crash -- which involved a semi and SUV -- happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. Troopers say 39-year-old Michael S. Yearout of Cleveland was heading east on Bellaire Road in a Hyundai Elantra heading toward the intersection of West 117th Street.
The semi, a Kenworth commercial truck hauling a trailer, was being driven by 48-year-old Radames Lopez of Cleveland and going north on West 117th Street as it entered the Bellaire Road intersection.
Troopers say Yearout failed to stop for the red traffic light and struck the left side of the commercial trailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Lopez did not report any injuries.
"It is unknown if impairment is suspected. The crash is still under investigation," the OSHP added in its release.
Troopers received assistance at the scene from multiple departments, including Cleveland police and fire.
Bellaire Road was also closed to southbound traffic at West 117th as a result of the crash but has since reopened.
The incident remains under investigation.
