CLEVELAND — A 49-year-old man was killed after being struck by a car Tuesday morning, according to Cleveland Police.
It happened at around 7:43 a.m. at East 152nd Street and Waterloo Road.
Upon arriving at the scene, Cleveland Police found an unresponsive victim, who was later transported by EMS to Univerity Hospitals where he was pronounced dead.
The initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 43-year-old woman told officers that her ex-boyfriend allegedly ran over her current boyfriend with a pickup truck.
According to the Cleveland Police, other information revealed that the suspect allegedly had followed and assaulted his ex-girlfriend prior to this incident.
The woman drove to the BP gas station on East 152nd Street where her boyfriend had met her. At the gas station, the victim and suspect got into a fight prior to the suspect getting in his truck. The suspect allegedly proceeded to strike and hit the victim with his vehicle
The 43-year-old woman sustained a leg injury during the incident.
The 49-year-old suspect initially fled the scene but has since been taken into custody by the Middleburgh Heights Police Department on Wednesday.
At this time the investigation remains under investigation.
