GEAUGA COUNTY, Ohio — We were following breaking news out of Geauga County early Friday morning where crews were fighting an overnight fire at a storage facility.
The situation brought a large response as firefighters battled the blaze at L & S storage in Newbury Township.
Newbury Fire Chief Ken Fagan tells 3News that firefighters arrived on the scene around 2:25 a.m. where four storage units were fully involved. The flames also destroyed multiple cars and motorcycles.
Dozens of firefighters from at least 20 fire departments out of Geauga, Lake, Portage and Trumbull counties assisted at the scene. We're told it took about two hours to get the fire under control.
While no firefighters were hurt, Chief Fagan says one person was treated for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
As daylight arrived, 3News was able to get a closer look at the damage left behind as a result of the fire. You can see various pictures from the scene in the photo gallery below.
Part of Kinsman Road (Route 87) was also shut down between Munn and Auburn roads as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames. The roadway has since reopened.
