PAINESVILLE, Ohio — Crews in Painesville Township battled a fire at the Penn-Ohio Wholesale Gardens on Monday evening.
Accordign to Painesville Township Fire Chief Frank Huffman, the fire started in the company's warehouse and storage building, which housed fertilizer and other chemicals.
Officials from EPA and HAZMAT were also on scene to monitor water runoff for any toxic pollutants. Huffman said three houses across the street on Park Road were evacuated, but residents are now back in their homes.
No one was injured, however Huffman said the building was a total loss.
There is no word yet on what started the fire.
