AVON LAKE, Ohio — A 36-year-old man has died in a one-vehicle crash, which happened Thursday night along US 6 (Lake Road) near Vineyard Road in Avon Lake.

"Excessive speed was determined to be a factor in the crash," according to a press release from the Avon Lake Police Department.
The driver, who has been identified as Colin Blayney of Avon Lake, was pronounced dead at the scene.
US 6 was closed for approximately three hours while authorities worked at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by several other agencies, including the Avon Lake Police Department, Avon Lake Fire Department and Avon Lake EMS.
