NORTH CANTON, Ohio — The North Canton Police Department on Monday announced the arrest of a juvenile in connection to a threat made against Hoover High School.
According to a press release, officials were able to locate a suspect in Lake Township accused of making a school shooting threat on social media Saturday night.
Over the weekend, the North Canton Police Department received a tip around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday that alleged someone had made a threatening comment on a social media post indicating that they were going to "shoot up" the school.
Due to a joint effort between the NCPD, the Stark County Sheriff's Office, and the FBI, a search warrant was issued for a property where a suspect, who does not go to Hoover High, was found to live.
Officials say several electronic devices were seized and no firearms were found.
The family of the minor has cooperated with the investigation and the juvenile remains in their custody and he has been charged with Aggravated Menacing, Misdemeanor and Inducing Panic.
Hoover High School officials was made aware of the threat over the weekend and took measures at this time to ensure the safety of all students and school staff.
