STARK COUNTY, Ohio — A 36-year-old Louisville man has died after his car crashed into a semi truck in Stark County on Friday morning.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident happened at around 10:55 a.m. on US Route 62 at the intersection of California Avenue in Nimishillen Township.
A 22-year-old New York man was driving a commercial semi truck eastbound on US Route 62 and approaching the intersection of California Avenue. A 1994 Honda Civic driven by 36-year-old Christopher Lee Brogan was going north on Californa Avenue and heading into the intersection of US Route 62.
The semi truck and the Honda Civic entered the intersection at the same time. The semi struck the Honda Civic, causing it to travel off of the roadway and into the US Route 62 median, before striking a traffic sign.
While the driver of the truck was not injured in the crash, Brogan sustained "serious life-threatening injuries." He was taken from the scene of the crash to Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton via Nimishillen Township EMS. Borgan was pronounced dead at 6:10 p.m. on Friday evening.
Troopers say alcohol and drug use is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
