AKRON, Ohio — The City of Akron Water Division announced on Thursday that it has lifted a precautionary boil water advisory that affected nearly 200 addresses in Summit County.
The advisory, which first went into effect on Wednesday, came as the result of a water main break in Northwest Akron. The advisory affected 200 customers located in portions of Fairlawn Heights, Copley Township, and the City of Fairlawn.
The water main break has since been repaired and pressures have been restored to the affected areas. The advisory, which was set to last for a minimum of 24 hours, was lifted after testing confirmed that the drinking water is safe.
"Customers are no longer required to boil their drinking water or take any special precautions," the City of Akron said. "Water is safe to consume and can be used normally."
Anybody with questions is asked to contact the Akron Water Distribution Dispatch at (330) 375-2420.
