High floodwaters close Jennings Road in Cleveland for hours

An SUV carrying six people had to be rescued from the waters.

CLEVELAND — Rising floodwaters, at least three to four feet, shut down Jennings Road between Old Denison and Harvard Avenue for several hours Sunday morning.

Around 4 a.m., an SUV carrying six people became stranded in the high water, according to Cleveland police officers on scene. Both adults and children were rescued, and no one was hurt.

Cleveland police used their cruisers to block the roadway until approximately 9 a.m. when workers with the Cleveland Water Pollution Control came to recede the water.

This area is just one of many in Northeast Ohio to flood after two days of heavy rain.
