AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man found guilty of murdering a 38-year-old woman last December has been sentenced to 31 years to life in prison.
On Monday, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced the sentencing of 39-year-old Christopher Mason, who was found guilty last week in the fatal shooting that killed his girlfriend, Allison Dinkins, on Dec. 31, 2022.
Mason was accused of fatally shooting Dinkins at a home on Brittain Road in Akron. Mason was also accused of shooting Dinkins’ 5-year-old daughter, who suffered face injuries as a result.
Last month, Mason was found guilty on the following counts:
- Two Counts of Murder with Gun Specifications – Special Felonies
- Two Counts of Attempted Murder with Gun Specifications – Felonies of the 1st Degree
- Two Counts of Felonious Assault with Gun Specifications – Felonies 2nd Degree
- Having a Weapon Under Disability – a Felony of the 3rd Degree
- Endangering Children with a Gun Specification – a Felony of the 3rd Degree
“A woman was killed, and a young girl was seriously injured because of the senseless actions of a dangerous fugitive. The Akron Police Department did an outstanding job identifying this suspect, which led to an arrest within days of the incident,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliot said in a release following Mason's arrest in January.
