CLEVELAND — Nearly one week after Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced that a grand jury decided not to criminally indict the eight police officers involved in the fatal shooting of Jayland Walker in Akron last June, the Akron Municipal Court announced that it has reopened for in-person hearings, effective Tuesday.
The court -- which is located at 217 South High Street in Downtown Akron -- had been closed since Monday, April 10 in advance of the grand jury's decision and its aftermath. According to the court, parties with afternoon arraignments/summonses who were unable to access the building between April 10, 2023 and Tuesday should appear at the courthouse at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 or Wednesday, May 3, 2023.
Anybody with questions is advised to call the Akron Municipal Court at 330-375-2120.
