CLEVELAND — A 73-year-old woman was killed and a 27-year-old man was injured in a house fire that occurred in Cleveland in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Cleveland Fire Public Information Officer Mike Norman tells 3News that fire occurred at 4 a.m. when two people were home at a residence on Wanda Ave. A 73-year-old woman was killed in the fire and a 27-year-old man was seriously injured after leaping from a second floor window.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the woman as Mary Backey of Cleveland.
Another adult female was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There were no working smoke detectors at the house.
