CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Division of Fire is investigating what caused a large fire at a downtown apartment building.
The fire is on the seventh floor of the Bridgeview Apartment building on West 9th Street and St. Clair overlooking the East Bank of the Flats. According to a tweet from Cleveland Fire, multiple apartments are involved and the 2-2-2 alarm has been struck to bring more firefighters to the location.
Officials say the blaze is now under control and no injuries have been reported. The investigation into what caused the fire is underway.
On Wednesday, 3News received the following statement from The Landmark Companies, owner of Bridgeview:
“Yesterday afternoon, our Bridgeview Apartments suffered a fire on the seventh floor. Due to the quick response of our Bridgeview staff, Cleveland Fire Department, Cleveland Police and other emergency response workers, the fire was extinguished without any injury to residents or pets. Thankfully, the fire damage has been limited to the rooftop and water damage has only affected a small number of units.
We would like to thank our team at Bridgeview and the Cleveland Fire and Police, your quick response in controlling the situation as soon as possible helped to keep us safe. We are especially thankful to all of the amazing residents who make up the Bridgeview community for their understanding, compassion and cooperation during this challenging time. We will keep you updated as we learn new information.”
