"Following an unsubstantiated bomb threat Friday, March 25, all LCCC campuses will open and activities will resume Saturday, March 26," LCCC announced on social media.
The threat marked Lorain County Community College's second in as many days after the college also closed on Thursday due to a threat.
According to LCCC Vice President Tracy Green, Friday's threat came just before 12 p.m. ET and was made via the same online chat forum as Thursday's threat.
Elyria police and LCCC officials were able to safely evacuate students, staff and faculty. Officers and security personnel conducted a building by building sweep looking for any suspicious items. The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the initial and secondary searches. No suspicious devices were located and officers cleared at 1:50 p.m. LCCC posted their all clear announcement at around 3:40 p.m.
“We’re seeing the impact that these threats are having on the main campus and local safety resources. We’ll continue to investigate the threats and seek to identify those responsible so that we can hold them accountable. We’re working closely with school administrators on this matter.” said Elyria Police Lieutenant Bill Lantz in a statement.
Thursday's threat was made at 3 p.m. ET, with Elyria Police making the decision to evacuate and close the campus after speaking with school officials. The Lorain County Sheriff's Office and Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Canine team were called in to help, but no explosives or anything similar were located, and the all clear signal was given at 5:30 p.m.
An Elyria police inquiry is now underway regarding the allegation of making terroristic threats, which would be a third-degree felony, regarding Thursday's threat. No arrests have been made at this time.
