MANSFIELD, Ohio — Mansfield Police have issued a warning to area residents regarding somebody making phone calls impersonating an officer.
Police say that they received dozens of complaints on Friday from area residents, as well as Columbus area residents, who said that they are receiving calls from a “Sgt Ryan Grimshaw." While the division does have a Sgt. Grimshaw on their staff, he has not made these phone calls.
The person making the calls states the need to discuss legal documents with the person they are calling and then leaves a return phone number. Calling the number takes you to a voicemail that identifies as “Sgt. Grimshaw."
Those who receive these calls are advised to not respond. An investigation into the calls remains ongoing.
Anybody with information regarding the calls is asked to please contact Lt. Robert Skropits at 419-755-9755.
