AKRON, Ohio — One person was killed and another person has been hospitalized following a three-story apartment fire in Akron on Thursday morning.
The fire occurred at an apartment complex located at 1105 Second Ave. In addition to the one fatality, one person was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Altogether, 30 people were displaced as a result of the fire. The fire is currently under control and fire companies will be on scene for several hours. The public is advised to avoid the area if possible.
3News' Emma Henderson said that as of 12:30 p.m., residents were being allowed back into the building. The Red Cross was providing water and snacks before they headed back in.
